Main responsible for EMR delivery of maintenance of passenger coaches
During a period of 6 months EMR needed assistance to manage their maintenance of SJAB fleet of 441 passenger coaches. At the same time an improvement program should be carried out. The work included daily issues as regards the maintenance at the workshops, various problems management and technical problems etc. Among other things an internet based IT-tool to manage and monitor the maintenance production was developed.
Uppsala PRT
Project management and system engineering of a PRT test track in Uppsala. Apart from many challenges, technical and others, Transrail is responsible to ensure the project target of a safety approval by the Swedish Rail Agency.
Technical Controller
Full time engagement as Technical Controller at the department for Safety and Technology. The department is responsible for maintenance and other aspects as regards the rolling stock used on the Stockolm underground and tramways, which are operated by Veolia.

Vehicle related traffical disturbances have rised significally, comparing outcomes from months january - august 2005 with the same period 2006. The purpose of the study was to investigate reasons for this increase.
Passenger flows and stop times for X12
Västrafik has found problems to keep the station stop times with their regional trains class X12. In order to decide whether the trains should be rebuilt and fitted with additional entrances/exits Transrail made calculations of passenger flows and stop times for before and after a possible rebuild.

Analysis of the present and future European rolling stock market. Based on the analysis Transrail made an assessment of the factors that affect the Swedish rolling stock market in general and ASJ’s activities in specific.
Risk Analysis as regards introduction of new rolling stock and a new depot
Development of a risk analysis including mitigation strategies for the migration to new commuter trains in the Stockholm area, requiring new schedules for staff, maintenance and operation. At the same time, a new depot was to be taken into operation.

Already at the design reviews A-Train had concerns about the GRP nose cone. Latrer, operational experience shoved that a redesign was needed. The modification of an existing design would be difficult, and Transrail was entrusted with the task to manage this work on behalf of ATrain.

Supervision of the delivery of the Arlanda Express vehicles
In 1997 A-Train engaged Transrail to assist in customer management of the GEC-Ahlstom (Alstom) delivery of the Arlanda Express shuttle trains. Reviewing design, manufacturing and project schedule Transrail staff also supervised manufacturing and type/commissioning tests, and before traffic start identified and supervised necessary modifications of the trains

Alstom contracted Transrail to support the successful tendering for a new generation commuter trains in Stockholm. Support on strategic issues, local conditions, drafting parts of the technical offer (incl the design booklet), translation of the tender, and in negotiations.
Software tool to evaluate operational and maintenance statistics
During the first years of operation of the Arlanda Express, Transrail managed the reliability monitoring programme. Information on traffic and vehicle disturbances from drivers, the traffic control centre and the workshop was compiled in a database, enabling analysis of train and subsystem reliability, traffic consequences and maintenance actions.
Railway Rolling Stock Maintenance Services in Sweden
Mantena wanted to expand their business to Sweden. They needed to know who their potential customers are, a broader knowledge of the market and specific advance notice on maintenance procurements. Transrail helped them with this and the strategies for a Swedish establishment.
Review of the Yugoslavian Railways for a rebuilding plan
This project to define a short term international investment plan for Yugoslavian Railways was commissioned by the Swedish International Development Agency. Transrail made technical reviews of infrastructure, rolling stock and maintenance facilities, and project prioritisation.

Management of the Authority Approvals Process for the new double-decker regional trains to SJ AB (Sweden). Establish an Approvals Dossier, with all authority requirements, set up the approvals process and assist the supplier to fulfil the requirements.

Study performed as a step in the reorganisation of the state-dominated railway sector, to propose a future sector organisation regarding roles and responsibilities for traffic safety and vehicle development. The study used the aviation sector as a benchmark and was based on round table discussions with railway organisation representatives.

Review of the rolling stock and maintenance organisation of Kosovo railways, estimates on the need of different types of rolling stock and status of existing rolling stock. The study was part of a strategic development plan for Kosovo railways, carried out by Hifab International.
Support on tendering for SJ Regional Trains (X40)
Local assistance during the tendering phase of the X40 Regional Trains. Transrail commented the customer's requirement specification, gave information on their likely preferences and informed on other conditions for a successful bid. The order was won by Alstom Transport.

Together with our partner Idesign, we prepared a Design Booklet, presenting the offered tram "Bris" based on Alstom's Citadis concept.

Preparation of a Design Booklet, presenting the offered DMU. The work was done together with the French company Avant Premier and Idesign, our Swedish partner on Industrial Design.
Software for the calculation of train crew payments
In 2000 the private operator Tågkompaniet took over the contract to operate the night-train services to the north of Sweden from SJ. Transrail was contracted by both parties for a taking over status review of the rolling stock (110 vehicles). Review instructions were developed, a team organised and the controls were carried out during a short time period.
