The Ports of Stockholms intend to relocate the container port in central Stockholm to Norvik in Nynäshamn. The study is an analysis of how railway transports of containers between Norvik and Stockholm/central Sweden could be designed in a competitive way compared to road transport.

Analysis of a new intermodal transport system for Rail Combi
Rail Combi (CargoNet), the main intermodal railway operator in Sweden, wanted to make a major change of their rail production scheme. Transrail analysed the planned train and wagon circulation, impacts on the wagon fleet and kilometre performance. Successfully solved using Transrail's TSDA tool with new software routines to minimise wagon empty runs.
Railway Rolling Stock Maintenance Services in Sweden
Mantena wanted to expand their business to Sweden. They needed to know who their potential customers are, a broader knowledge of the market and specific advance notice on maintenance procurements. Transrail helped them with this and the strategies for a Swedish establishment.
Review of the Yugoslavian Railways for a rebuilding plan
This project to define a short term international investment plan for Yugoslavian Railways was commissioned by the Swedish International Development Agency. Transrail made technical reviews of infrastructure, rolling stock and maintenance facilities, and project prioritisation.
Roles and responsibilities for traffic safety and vehicle development.
Study performed as a step in the reorganisation of the state-dominated railway sector, to propose a future sector organisation regarding roles and responsibilities for traffic safety and vehicle development. The study used the aviation sector as a benchmark and was based on round table discussions with railway organisation representatives.
Regional and commuter train systems south of Stockholm
Feasibility and idea study on a more efficient regional and commuter train system into Stockholm from the south. Means to improve the commuter traffic south of Södertälje were studied. An idea of great potential was the integration of regional and commuter train services at the Södertälje Syd station.
Strategic development plan for the Kosovo railways
Review of the rolling stock and maintenance organisation of Kosovo railways, estimates on the need of different types of rolling stock and status of existing rolling stock. The study was part of a strategic development plan for Kosovo railways, carried out by Hifab International.
Regional train services over the Öresund bridge (Sweden-Denmark).
The train service over the Öresund bridge was originally set up as a cooperation between DSB and SJ (the Danish and Swedish national railways). In 2000 the responsibility on the Swedish side was transferred to the regional PTA. In preparing this transfer Skånetrafiken asked Transrail for a second opinion on the traffic prognosis and economy of the services.

Vision for an efficient and attractive passenger transport system (the lines and schedules) in the region of Bergslagen, Sweden. Operational costs were calculated and requirements were identified for rolling stock and infrastructure in order to achieve cost effectiveness.
Organisation of the technical sector
Study on the future competence and organisation of the technical department within Banverket (BV), authority responsible for the Swedish railway infrastructure. A Rolling Stock unit was studied as a result of a reorganisation of the railway sector giving BV responsibility for the technical approval of new rolling stock.

Support to CNR (The Community of Nordic Railways) as regards initiatives for development of the "Eurotrains", a concept for a new generation of flexible modular passenger trains.

Developing a vision for a future Swedish railway freight transport system. Focus on the potential of intermodal transport in comparison to other means of transport. Included extensive technical-economical studies of different modes. Transrail tool TSDA (Transport System Design and Analysis) was used.
Eurotrains
