Main responsible for EMR delivery of maintenance of passenger coaches
During a period of 6 months EMR needed assistance to manage their maintenance of SJAB fleet of 441 passenger coaches. At the same time an improvement program should be carried out. The work included daily issues as regards the maintenance at the workshops, various problems management and technical problems etc. Among other things an internet based IT-tool to manage and monitor the maintenance production was developed.
Technical Controller
Full time engagement as Technical Controller at the department for Safety and Technology. The department is responsible for maintenance and other aspects as regards the rolling stock used on the Stockolm underground and tramways, which are operated by Veolia.

Project management and other consultancy participation for Keolis tendering for this contract, including traffic and station services.
Tender for operation of the traffic system "Tåg i Bergslagen"
Participation in Keolis tender for the regional passenger services in Bergslagen (middle Sweden). Transrail made the staff schedules and traffic plans, rolling stock circulations and maintenance parts of the tender. Transrail also conducted a SWOT-analysis and a pre-study prior to the tender.
Risk Analysis as regards introduction of new rolling stock and a new depot
Development of a risk analysis including mitigation strategies for the migration to new commuter trains in the Stockholm area, requiring new schedules for staff, maintenance and operation. At the same time, a new depot was to be taken into operation.
X40 Maintenance Documentation
Maintenance documentation for new regional trains (X40) to SJ AB (Sweden). Assignment includes project management assistance, assistance in customer relations, review of the documenation before delivery and, finally, translation of the documentation to Swedish.

Establishment of strategic plan for the Rolling Stock
Establishment of strategic plan for the rolling stock, with recommendations on financially viable renovations and status upgrades. The work included also the establishing of maintenance programmes and take over of technical documentation.

Technical and commercial support in the public procurement ("LoU"), evaluation and contracting of heavy maintenance. In addition establishment of maintenance programmes, analysis of material need and compiling + creation of maintenance documentation.
X60 Maintenance Analysis
Stockholm Local Transport (SL) is replacing old commuter trains with a new X60 type by Alstom requiring new schemes for maintenance and operation. In parallel a new depot is taken into operation. The analysis identifies how to operate and organise the maintenance system of the commuter train services, including necessary investments and other measures.

Following previous work on system design of the new Eskisehir Tramway (Turkey), Transrail was assigned by the supplier (Bombardier Transportation) to draft the necessary documentation for mobilisation and operation of the system.

Study on the future conditions for maintenance of the Stockholm commuter trains, considering the migration to a new fleet witch is not compatible with the old vehicles and the introduction of a new second depot.
Eskisehir LRTS System Training
Following previous work on system design of the new Eskisehir Tramway (Turkey), Transrail was assigned by the supplier (Bombardier Transportation) to develop a course for system training of the operator's staff.
Software tool to evaluate operational and maintenance statistics
During the first years of operation of the Arlanda Express, Transrail managed the reliability monitoring programme. Information on traffic and vehicle disturbances from drivers, the traffic control centre and the workshop was compiled in a database, enabling analysis of train and subsystem reliability, traffic consequences and maintenance actions.
Railway Rolling Stock Maintenance Services in Sweden
Mantena wanted to expand their business to Sweden. They needed to know who their potential customers are, a broader knowledge of the market and specific advance notice on maintenance procurements. Transrail helped them with this and the strategies for a Swedish establishment.
Railway Rolling Stock Maintenance Services in Sweden
In 2001 the Swedish government launched a process to sell EuroMaint, former technical division of SJ, and still Sweden’s largest railway rolling stock maintainer. During the international bidding Siemens Transportation contracted Transrail for part of the due diligence. After due consideration Siemens withdraw from bidding, and later on the selling process was stopped.
Roles and responsibilities for traffic safety and vehicle development.
Study performed as a step in the reorganisation of the state-dominated railway sector, to propose a future sector organisation regarding roles and responsibilities for traffic safety and vehicle development. The study used the aviation sector as a benchmark and was based on round table discussions with railway organisation representatives.

Writing of a depot manual for the Arlanda Express depot at Blackvreten. The manual covers the organisation of the depot, rules and routines of work, responsibilities, control activities, safety regulations and reviews.
Strategic development plan for the Kosovo railways
Review of the rolling stock and maintenance organisation of Kosovo railways, estimates on the need of different types of rolling stock and status of existing rolling stock. The study was part of a strategic development plan for Kosovo railways, carried out by Hifab International.
Software for the calculation of train crew payments
In 2000 the private operator Tågkompaniet took over the contract to operate the night-train services to the north of Sweden from SJ. Transrail was contracted by both parties for a taking over status review of the rolling stock (110 vehicles). Review instructions were developed, a team organised and the controls were carried out during a short time period.
