| Railenergy is a research project within the EU R&D framework program. Transrail's part in the project is to manage a work package regarding energy efficient operation. This includes energy efficient driving and timetabling. | |

| The Swedish Railway Administration is doing a feasibility study on high-speed (250-320 km/h) passenger train services in Sweden, in particular the corridor Stockholm – Linköping – Jönköping - Gothenburg. As a part of this study, Transrail was contracted to do a calculation of the operational costs of such traffic. The study included all cost elements of the operation, in specific estimates on the investment and maintenance of suitable types of rolling stock. | |

| During the first years of operation of the Arlanda Express, Transrail managed the reliability monitoring programme. Information on traffic and vehicle disturbances from drivers, the traffic control centre and the workshop was compiled in a database, enabling analysis of train and subsystem reliability, traffic consequences and maintenance actions. | |

| In 2000 the private operator Tågkompaniet took over the contract to operate the night-train services to the north of Sweden from SJ. Transrail was contracted by both parties for a taking over status review of the rolling stock (110 vehicles).
